Cyclosa certainly looks right
Cyclosa certainly looks right to me (large, elongated pedipalps, projecting eye ridge, white shoulders on abdomen), probably even C. conica.

I don't think it's so unusual to find dessicated males. I think that beyond a certain point in the life cycle they simply begin to waste away.

I've also looked in Cyclosa
several times. The only thing holding me back is the appearance of a anterior protrusion of the abdomen and three? protrusions on the posterior. Maybe it's just the angle of the shots? The legs and carapace sure look right.

It was about the size of a dime, including the legs.
It might have even been a tiny bit smaller than a dime, but close...
