The species name describes this one nicely.

This is Homaeotarsus bicolor,
This is Homaeotarsus bicolor, one of the most common species.

Staphylinidae: Paederinae: Homaeotarsus sp.
Color patterns are good for identifying species - will have to look at them some day.
