Spined Assassin Bug - Sinea diadema

Spined Assassin Bug - Sinea diadema
Las Vegas Wash within the Clark County Wetlands Park, Clark County, Nevada, USA
June 29, 2011
First account of this species on BugGuide in Nevada

Sinea sp.
S. diadema is not a bad place for this image though S. confusa remains a possibility. The shape of legs indicate this is not part of the spinipes group and a few other species may be eliminated from consideration by the shape of the connexiva and armature of the pronotum. Furthermore, S. diadema is almost certainly trans-continental in distribution. This genus is also in desperate need of revision.

thanks for the detailed explanation
happy to see NV bugs dripping in

how did you obtain this ID?

Comparison of specimens previously ID'd from Arizona and California, as they seem to have slightly different coloration. In addition to reading info on the Guide and other sources. If you think it is something else, I'm not saying I'm 100%.
