Aphids on royal catchfly - Aphis

Aphids on royal catchfly - Aphis
Plain City, Madison County, Ohio, USA
July 4, 2011
These small blackish aphids were feeding on royal catchfly, Silene regia, in a small prairie remnant west of Columbus, Ohio. A number of plants had small colonies, and all were tended by ants s can be seen in the photo. Royal catchfly is a rare plant in Ohio, and intact prairie remnants are quite rare as well. Does anyone know what species of aphid this is? Any help is much appreciated!
