Orb weaver and it IS NOT welcome
I think this is in fact the orb weaver you suggest and after some initial research this is a spider that can colonize in large numbers and produce "ulcerated painful" bites ... not something that gets to live in close proximity to my baby. I catch and release 99.999% but I'm not risking this one... I can already see several more and they are BIG arachnids.

Where are you getting your information? This is news to me (that Meta poses any kind of health risk) and I suspect some media sensationalism here....
