Common Banner, underside - Epiphile adrasta - Female
World Birding Center HQ at Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park, Hidalgo County, Texas, USA
December 11, 2005
Found by Terry Fuller at "Josh's Diner", the Sabal Palm tree outside my office window where I often put out butterfly bait. This time, though, Jan and David Dauphin supplied the bait, the viscous brown goo in which the Banner's tongue is dipping; for some reason my bait always comes out looking very different, less uniform and syrupy, more watery with lumps in it.
