Size: 1/4 inch or so
These look similar to lady bug larva, but seem to be eating the cottonwood leaves, so I don't think they are. What are they?

Yes, I looked on Google images, and it looks like Chrysomela scripta, which eats only cottonwood leaves, apparently!
