Mexican Amberwing? - Perithemis intensa - male

Mexican Amberwing? - Perithemis intensa - Male
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
July 10, 2011
This fairly small dragonfly was spotted at the small artificial lake at the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station. I am wondering if it might be a Mexican Amberwing, Perithemis intensa? This species has been reported at the field station, but it has not been photographed.

Agree with your ID - Perithemis intensa (male)

Per Paulson (1) - Perithemis intensa is the only spp. of Perithemis seen in CA.

Thanks!
Thanks so much for the ID confirmation! I really appreciate your including a reference.

I've added the photos to our field station photo database. We now have photos of all the dragonflies reported at the field station except for one.
