Long-Horned Bee (Melissodes bimaculata) - Melissodes bimaculatus - female

Long-Horned Bee (Melissodes bimaculata) - Melissodes bimaculatus - Female
Dayton, Ohio, USA
July 9, 2011
Size: ~15mm
I've become obsessed recently with trying to photograph bees. This lovely is my first submission here, since I'm hoping for some help identifying her(?), but it's unfortunately not the greatest image. (I do have a few other frames, but this is the clearest.)

At first I thought it was a species of bumblebee that I hadn't encountered, but I could not find any that matched. The evening of the photo, she preferentially fed on the Salvia in the few minutes I observed her. I look forward to any assistance the BugGuide community can provide.

Thanks, Dr. Ascher!
I appreciate your help, too. Delighted to see you concur. And, I take it this means I shouldn't delete the photo. :)

Looks like melissodes bimaculata female

Thanks so much, Zach! That looks to be what I saw. The overall hairs and the white scopa (?--sorry, still new to this) seem to match, as well as the white 'interruption' to the black about two-thirds down the abdomen.

Now what do I do with the photos? I'm not sure how to move or delete. Thanks again for your help. So fast! :)
