Notodontidae: Datana perspicua?
Your specimen may be an example of the Spotted Datana (Hodges #7908). I appears to resemble this Bug Guide image:

Datana for certain, though I'm not convinced I can separate the species. Considering the food plants that are abundant locally and might appeal to something in the genus, (Hickory/Walnut and Rhododendron) one can perhaps narrow it down. But even a family (and especially your genus ID) makes me very happy!
