This is the left side view of the subject beetle. Note that the large palpi prominent in the dorsal and ventral views reveal themselves here to be very flat.

This image is a CombineZP processed stack of 54 images with a 5.9 micron step taken with a Nikon CFI60 10X 0.25NA microscope objective + Nikon 300mm ED-IF F4 telephoto lens + Nikon D300 camera (magnification 15X; technique described here).
