This wasp landed on and stung the small Nephila while it was at the hub of it's web.

Trypoxylon not politum

See Comment on related picture. I just noticed that the specimen is from Florida. Down there, there are other species similar to T. lactitarse which I am not so familar with. It can't be politum but perhaps it is not lactitarse.

Trypoxylon

This is a Sphecid wasp of the genus Trypoxylon. They use spiders as their prey.
