Click Beetle - Hemicrepidius hemipodus - male

Click Beetle - Hemicrepidius hemipodus - Male
Dixville, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 12, 2011
Size: 10.5mm

Moved
Moved from Hemicrepidius.

Keys out well in Horn's all review of the genus (as Asaphes!). It is a male and died exposing himself, but I don't have any illustrations/images to compare. Externally, it is a good fit with this species.

perfect!

from P.J. Johnson: "No, that is not H. niger.
"Probably, H. hemipodus (Say); check aedeagus if possible."

Moved from Athoini.

Blaine's gonna whip my pygidium for encroaching on his turf
Moved from Click Beetles.

this thing looks a lot like the European Hemicrepidius niger
compare
common where i grew up

It'll be interesting what Blaine says
after he sees the specimen. I'll have to get these in the mail soon.

i'm dying to hear the results announced
i don't see any Canadian records of H. niger --which one would expect for adventives of this kind
