Click Beetle - Oedostethus femoralis

Click Beetle - Oedostethus femoralis
Gorham, Coos County, New Hampshire, USA
July 12, 2011
Size: 4.7mm

Moved
Moved from Hypnoidini.

Under higher magnification, looks more like the syntype (looks better than the description in Stibick's 1990 revision!). The genitilia and flared tarsal claws illustrated in Stibick (1990) also seem to be a match.

Congrats, Tom. A new genus for BG!

Congrats to all of us!!
thanks a ton, guys. the clicker section has prospered under your curatorial auspices ))

Tentative ID
I've tentatively ID'd this as Oedostethus femoralis, in Negastriinae (see syntype here.). I want to take the specimen to work and re-examine under a better microscope.

Negastriinae... damn
thanx, buddy; the two groups used to be lumped and reshuffled every each way conceivable...

yeah...
I'm finding it to be a mess...even many of the MCZ types are still out-of-date.
