Little Spearfish Canyon, a place where -- as any true boot-wearing South Dakotan (and a few others, too) will immediately point out -- "some scenes from Dances With Wolves were filmed". The stream is spring-fed and flows into Spearfish Creek. We walked along it for about an hour until soggy trails forced us to turn around (we were with a four-year-old). (Perhaps one of the few places in the Black Hills _not_ grazed by cattle?)

BTW, the spider is not walking on water here, but was climbing around on some kitchen utensil while I was trying to photograph him.
