i thought this would be easy until i saw other examples of this species of butterfly

a female Black Swallowtail (= Dill Worm, etc.)

Looks like Papilio Polyxenes
A black swallow tail?

An Eastern Tiger Swallowtail? The Eastern Tigers have a dark morph that mimics the Spicebush Swallowtail.
