Soldier Fly, perhaps? - Caloparyphus mariposa - Male

Size: about 6-8mm
It reminds me a little of a soldier fly, but I really don't know! The surface of the wings have a very wavy texture. In the second frame you can really see this!

This group needs a revision,
This group needs a revision, but with the yellow femur it can not be major, but would key out to mariposa or pretiosus. I am not sure at all if mariposa and pretiosus are two different species, and the two of them might even be the same as major... working on that.. Great find, these flies seem to be no very common!

Stratiomyidae: Caloparyphus sp.
Stratiomyidae: Caloparyphus sp....quite possibly C. major, but can only get a definitive ID by looking at a specimen.
