Robber fly - Holcocephala fusca

Robber fly - Holcocephala fusca
rural, Dallas County, Iowa, USA
July 17, 2011
Size: 7 mm
A small number of individuals were seen in a sedgy area near a pond. The individuals would perch on the very tip of the stem of the sedge. This one perched on the dried stem of some other weed and was easier to photograph because the wind did not blow the weed so much.
