Cacama valvata? - Cacama valvata

Cacama valvata? - Cacama valvata
Organ Mountains, Dona Ana County, New Mexico, USA
May 30, 2006
Cacama valvata? Exceedingly abundant right at the moment. Apparently the adults are feeding on mesquite (seen here) and Acacia, mostly.

Moved
Moved from Cacama furcata.

Red Orb
Any idea as to what that red orb is behind it's eye? Interesting.

The red blobs...
Are mites of some kind. This one had a half-dozen, but I didn't see any mites on the others.

Very Interesting
This one seems to be feeding.

I know that some cicadas, even Tibicens can be infected by fungal spores but I have never seen mites on one before. Speaking of infestations, this one here seems to be covered in something.
