Euvrilletta peltata (Harris 1836)
Size
3.7–4.6 mm(1)
Range
e. NA (PE-GA to MB-AR-TX)(1)(2), has probably spread to other countries(3)
Habitat
occurs naturally in dead branches and downed logs(3), prefers rather moist wood; joists and flooring in damp buildings are particularly susceptible; older homes with crawl spaces are also heavily infested(1)
Life Cycle
may take 1–5 years, depending on wood quality & moisture and temperature fluctuations(3)
Remarks
may re-infest & cause structural failure of wood(1); infestations may continue until nearly all the sapwood portion has been consumed(3)
