Tree cricket - Oecanthus - female

Tree cricket - Oecanthus - Female
Lick Creek Park, Brazos County, Texas, USA
October 23, 2010

Moved
Moved from Common Tree Crickets. This is a photo of what is posted on SINA as "Texas tree cricket." It has not yet been officially described. DNA sequencing being performed by a Dartmouth PhD student should get things moving. I have many photos taken in 2009 & 2010, which I had not yet submitted for lack of a definite spot -- but am confident these are all this 'Texas tree cricket.' It has similar coloring to Oecanthus varicornis, but is more subtle and pastel looking.

Antennal markings are similar on both, so not needed for ID. If DNA proves this is not a separate species, I'll move it accordingly.

Nice photo.
