June 30, 2011
Size: 4 cm
My best friend's daughter noticed this individual in their front yard (cool!). I helped it to the deck piling, however it went elsewhere to molt...

Tibicen auletes
The geographic range (common across NC), size, coloration and distinctively light eye color are all consistent with this species.

Thanks
I wasn't sure which one this belonged to; not quite used to id'ing nymphs, since, actually, this is the first one I've actually seen. Thanks for the help.

Nymphs and id.
The nymphs can be difficult to id., esp. by pic.

However, I've collected enough across the southeast over the years that I can comfortably id them when in hand and some by pic.
