Millipede with about 20 flies

Millipede with about 20 flies "Riding it" - Myriophora
Appalachian Mountain Club Mohican Outdoor Center, Warren County, New Jersey, USA
July 17, 2011
The most I counted on the millipede in one picture was about 18 flies on it. It would occasionally thrash about trying to get rid of the flies, but they would land on the ground nearbye then be back when it stopped thrashing about. They even held on when it went under dead leaves.
