Fly possibly feeding on an egg sac

Fly possibly feeding on an egg sac
Leominster State Forest, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA
July 24, 2011
This fly was found on the underside of a maple leaf, directly underneath a presumed spider egg sac (see the other photos in this series). Is it possible that this fly was feeding on the presumed spider eggs? ID help appreciated. Thanks!

Midge
Chironomidae, probably Tanytarsini. Adults are unlikely to eat eggs; they probably can't take solid food.

Thanks for the ID!
Very helpful, thanks!
