Many of these were crossing a golf cart path beside a tidal salt marsh. Unfortunately, some had been run over.

Red-jointed Fiddler
I believe that this is the Red-jointed Fiddler Crab (Uca minax.)

Welcome
Texas Parks and Wildlife has a good site that has great descriptions and photos of crab and shrimp species that can be found in that state and also used for other Gulf coast or Atlantic coastal states if you know what you are looking for. I found it even more helpful than the SC Dept. of Natural Resources page in getting a species ID on my marsh grass shrimp. I am at the coast now and will be posting pics when I get home next week. We may need to add some new pages to BG! Lol
