Belvosia? - Belvosia borealis

Belvosia? - Belvosia borealis
Fairfield, Somerset County, Maine, USA
July 27, 2011
Size: 30-35mm
while preparing camera this big fly took off and landed on my hand for awhile. Luckily it did not move until I started walking away. It seemed to be tasting my skin with the tongue-like thing visible in some of these pictures. Maybe it was eating salt or just checking it out...
Also, I find one (maybe the same one?) on the same flower in a 2.5 acre area...is that coincidence or do they stay at one feeding area?
Thanks
