Is this Apamea amputatrix? - Apamea amputatrix

Is this Apamea amputatrix? - Apamea amputatrix
Fairfield, Somerset County, Maine, USA
July 27, 2011

It was about 1.5"-1.625" long. It flew down to the ground for a minute and then went up into a maple tree where it was promptly attached by a small bird.
It did get away, but I lost it...
