PLease help me identify this egg case - Malacosoma californicum

Size: 1 inch
I find these cases only on stressed red alder that have not greened up because of the heavy rains on poorly drained soil. Picture may not be entirely clear. Looks like closed cell foam, very sparkly, breaks apart just like styrofoam to reveal rows of vertical egg cases like pinballs, about 100 per case. Pinkish when just made, hardens rapidly to greyish, very sparkly glue-like consistency
