Hackberry Emperor -
Asterocampa celtis
-
Tallahassee, Florida, USA

I've very tentatively identified this as a white peacock butterfly, but my knowledge of butterflies is almost non-existant. Can anyone either confirm the ID or else give me the correct one from this shot?
Thanks in advance.

ssp. reinthali
Your specimen belongs to this subspecies, and is pretty typical of it. It is a beautiful photo of a beautiful insect!

That is a great photo
It shows the markings so nicely so I moved it to the guide.

Hackberry Emperor
Asterocampa celtis. I found an exact visual match in Butterflies through Binoculars (FL). Even prettier than the White Peacock I think. Lovely photo - you should cut and paste it to the guide section.
