Unknown hymenoptera - Trichiosoma triangulum

Unknown hymenoptera - Trichiosoma triangulum
Carpenter Mountain, Lane County, Oregon, USA
July 21, 2011
Size: 8mm
The mandibles make me think wasp/hornet, but no stinger evident, and I've never seen club antennae on a wasp. Any ideas? Seen at the Carpenter Mountain fire lookout in the Cascade Range, Lane County, Oregon. Elevation 5350 ft.

Cimbicidae
Cimbicid sawflies have clubbed antennae. OK for Trichiosoma triangulum.
Carpenter Mtn. is nice! A friend manned that lookout around 1958 and rememer hiking up to see him.
