Rhagonycha imbecillis (LeConte) is superficially similar to Rhagonycha mollis mollis Fall [= R. nigiceps (LeConte)], however, the scutellum and sterna of R. imbecillis are dark (piceous), whereas the scutellum and sterna of R. mollis/nigiceps are pale (yellow).
