Ground Beetle - Tachys pulchellus

Ground Beetle - Tachys pulchellus
Port Fourchon, Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, USA
July 22, 2011
Size: 2.7mm
Could Elaphropus parvulus be a possibility?

Moved
Moved from Paratachys. Thanks Peter!

Tachys pulchellus LaFerte-Senectere, 1841
(syn. T. subtropicus Casey, 1918; syn. T. pugnax Casey, 1918) is best fit based on my passing this specimen through the outdated key by Casey (1918). Modern (revised) keys are not available. Only other species to consider in LA are T. litoralis and T. bradycellinus. Thanks Johnny for providing this photo-voucher now held in the P.W.Messer collection.

Genus Tachy here because elytron shows anterior discal seta located in 3rd stria. Also, 8th strial groove just behind middle shows little or no abrupt deviation medially.

Paratachys?
looks more like Paratachys, perhaps P. proximus, but I'm not familiar with southern species, and its a tough genus in any case

Thanks,I knew I should have taken a look in
Paratachys but happened to see the other mentioned above,Peter will
give a name anyhow when I send next batch,Thanks Brad.
