Sulfur - Colias eurytheme - male

Sulfur - Colias eurytheme - Male
Ledges State Park, Boone County, Iowa, USA
July 31, 2011

Colias philodice? This was hanging around with lots of P. rapae

Moved from Colias.

Looks like a male Orange Sulphur (Colias eurytheme)
Based on the size/shape of the black band along the outer margin showing through from above.

Hard to Say
If I'd seen it down here, I'd say C. eurytheme but outside my fauna it's too close to call. Where both exist, there can hybridize. Betros probably knows them better.
