I've got a friend who uses a boxlike home-made leaf sifter. The sifted content falls onto a white sheet and then he uses the sifter sideways, as a stool.

I like your bucket idea, but think I'd instead use it the same way -- as a stool.

These days I carry a white plastic bucket
when I'm sweep-netting. I dump bugs and debris into the bucket and collect those crawling up the sides with my homemade pooter.
