This is probably Orthaltica c
This is probably Orthaltica copalina although the size seems slightly large.

Hornaltica bicolorata maybe
Orthaltica copalina is black or brown, appendages reddish brown; doesn´t seem lik a fit to me
close relative Hornaltica bicolorata seems a better option. 2mm, Head, pronotum, legs dark reddish yellow, elytra black, abdomen black
on Acalypha; the elongate body seems to fit Orthaltica better though...
What do you think? Can Crepidodera be excluded?

Geez, I've got way too many names floating through my head these days. You are right in that it is not Orthaltica. Those are more elongate, with black striate elytra and orange pronota and feed on sumac. I meant to ID it as Lupraea (Palaeothona) picta. This species feeds on oak over most of the eastern US and the bright blue and orange combination and small size is what makes me think it is this species.

I know your problem
I´ve got the same problem with so many beetles, butterflies, birds, leafbeetle hostplants etc...
I´m not familiar with Luphrae picta, but it looks like a good fit.
