Shiny Leaf Beetle - Chrysomela schaefferi

Shiny Leaf Beetle - Chrysomela schaefferi
Soquel, Santa Cruz County, California, USA
August 2, 2011
Size: around 5mm
This beetle was extremely shiny. So much so that I thought it was multi colored or striped, though it appears only to have been reflecting the surroundings. The antennae seem a little longer than usual and fancier.

Thanks, and BTW...
Thanks, and BTW, I have come to think of large white side patches with a small black dot in them as a leaf beetle thing. Lately, however, I have found Harmonia axyridis specimen with that same thing. I couldn't really find any like them in the guide, however, I didn't submit them because there are so many in the guide. Still, they are kind of interesting...

You may recall that I found one there before...
...I must be a lost cause for not recognizing...The other had semi-transparent orange elytra. This one's were tinted black, but very similar over all.
