this one had sparse "beard" and long antennae...it was also incredibly timid

Ceraturgus fasciatus
According to the 2008 Barnes revision of this genus, the only species found in Maine is Ceraturgus fasciatus. The quite similar C. cruciatus is limited to the midwest.
