Agrilus horni - Agrilus anxius

Agrilus horni - Agrilus anxius
Vilas County, Wisconsin, USA
Specimen collected by April Milkul through examining the EAB purple prism trap. Identified by Nathan R. Hoftiezer in 2010. Specimen deposited in WI IRC.

identification
This image was called to my attention by Bob Carlson, who questioned the ID. In my opinion it is a better fit for Agrilus anxius. I questioned Henry Hespenheide, who is an authority on the genus, and he commented to me as follows: "The BugGuide picture looks more like my specimen of anxius with the more broadly flared pronotal margins, so I'd agree with you, albeit with no certainty."

Pygidial spine
It seems like it should be visible between the tips of the elytra.
