corylophid - Sericoderus lateralis

corylophid - Sericoderus lateralis
Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA
May 31, 2006
Size: about 1.5mm extended
Came to UV light setup on warm, humid night. This is the first corylophid I've taken at lights, although I probably passed them up previously due to their micropscopic dimensions.

This is the only image I captured of the beetle in extended position. Here it is trapped inside a water drop on the floor of the deli container.

This one closely resembles others I've posted that have been IDed as this genus.

Moved
Moved from Sericoderus.

must be S. lateralis

One of two spp. on Chandler's list.
I suppose S. flavi*dus is lighter colored (more yellow) than this one.

I have 86 unposted images for this family, most of which are readily identifiable as spp. I've already posted (probably all are).

flavidus...
...is jr. synonym; i told Don about the redundant entry. Sericoderus are very gregarious folks indeed, and very common where they live, too -- so expect lots of them among your 'spp.' inventory

Good to know.
Thanks, Belov. And you're right, they are the most common species/genus among my unposted pix.
