I was guessing a bee-mimic robber fly of some type, but wing position seemed unique, not sure. K.

Definitely
Laphria. Female will sometimes hold wings unlocked for a bit after landing. Looks like the true Laphria portion of this giant genus.

Looks like a robber to me
That cleft between the eyes is a diagnostic trait, if I understand correctly. Which genus or species... I have no clue.
