Antheraea polyphemus - female

Antheraea polyphemus - Female
Columbia, Richland County, South Carolina, USA
March 7, 2004
Size: About 6"
The first of several Polyphemus and Luna that 'found' my breezeway. A year later, 70+ eggs were stuck to my metal door. Not knowing what I was doing at first, I popped them into a plastic container and set about trying to raise them. I managed to raise 9 to maturity, but think I could do better if I did it again. None as large as this one. I may post some later.
