Bark Louse - Hyalopsocus

Bark Louse - Hyalopsocus
Bailey Island, Cumberland County, Maine, USA
August 3, 2011
Size: 4.4 mm head to wing tip
Can anyone get this to the species level?

undescribed species of Hyalopsocus --det. E.L. Mockford
his comment: "This is an undescribed species of Hyalopsocus with a wide range throughout southeastern US and up the coast to southern Maine. The white spot invading the dark spot in the pterostigma is diagnostic."

Moved from Indiopsocus.

That is a beautiful specimen!
Mockford tells me there are over 40 undescribed species of Indiopsocus. This could be one of those. Did you keep the specimen? I am working on this genus and I would really like some soecimens of this one, both males and females (in alcohol). That's asking a lot but ...I trade cookies for Indiopsocus specimens. Ask Robert Zimlich about the quality of my oatmeal cookies.

Bark Louse
I will try. There are several species that crawl on our cottage siding. We are right on the ocean. Stay tuned.
