Another Melanoplus, ID help appreciated.

This one faked you out - a big-headed Slant-faced Grasshopper
"White-whiskered" is a bit off, since the name refers to the white antennae (hardly whiskers).

This is one of those really common species
that nobody much seems to notice. Tends to stay inhabit dry grassland areas and to remain relatively unassuming among the clumps of grass. It jumps when disturbed just like any other Grasshopper, but people tend to not notice or ignore the "plain brown ones" I suppose. I've never taken a picture of one, but it's one of the ones I see the most often (including in my own yard) - no good reason - just haven't.
