We saw this male tree cricket on Lupinus argentus at a location 6 miles NW of Lyons,C0. Is it possible to get to species from this photograph? Any help is much appreciated.

While I have not seen as much orange on the heads of brown form of Oecanthus californicus before, I believe this is that species. Note the blotching on the wings, and the slash marks on the femurs. Both are characteristics that may or may not be seen on O. californicus.

Thanks so much for this ID. It's really appreciated! I still hear one or two tree crickets at night this late in the season, but I don't know which of our 3 species is calling.
