Hogna sp? - Tigrosa aspersa

Hogna sp? - Tigrosa aspersa
Washburn, Grainger County, Tennessee, USA
August 7, 2011
Size: 24mm (Body)
Large spider and my relatives say they've seen larger of the same species. Found on the ground at the intersection of meadow, mixed hardwood forest, and orchard. This particular patch of woods in Tennessee has more insects and arachnids than I've seen virtually anywhere. Great spot for collecting bugs, butterflies, mantids, katydids, robber flies, spiders, you name it.
