Tomato bugs - Leptoglossus zonatus

Tomato bugs - Leptoglossus zonatus
Palm Desert, Riverside County, California, USA
June 29, 2011
Size: approx. 3/4"
These bugs were all over my tomato plants. I spotted numerous smaller orange colored immature bugs eating my tomatos that seemed to grow up into these. I have had a great many tomato horn worms this year also and wonder if these bugs are some stage of this insect. ?? Thanks for your help with ID. I enjoy watching & sharing with bugs, but next year I will have to treat my plants with some natural insect repellant as I enjoyed very few tomotoes this year!

I think you are right, and fast also! Thanks so much.

Leptoglossus Zonatus
I know it should be tagged and moved to True Bugs, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that.
