Spider - Araneus nordmanni

Spider - Araneus nordmanni
Columbia County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 8, 2011
Again I didn't get a measurement but it was a pretty good size. At Rickett's Glen Park

Moved from ID Request.

Araneus, but which one?
Check saevus and nordmanni while you wait to hear from Lynette We'll check deeper too if we get the chance

saevus or nordmanni
I'm leaning toward Araneus nordmanni mostly based on coloring.

Do you think it's safe to move to species level?
Thanks for your help!

That was our thought too
but we sometimes get tricked by those non-cross cross spiders! :)

non-crossed cross spider
In my experience A. diademtatus does not have red femurs. They are almost always orange or brown. Otherwise they do look very similar.
