Bumble-Bee Mimic Robber Fly - Laphria astur

Bumble-Bee Mimic Robber Fly - Laphria astur
East of Bassett's, across road from SFSU Sierra Nevada Field Campus, Sierra County, California, USA
July 11, 2011
Perched on downed log in sunny opening of a coniferous forest.

I think this may be Laphria astur, both from good match with BugGuide posts and trying to key it. Compare with description here.

I think male vs. female may be discernible from the terminalia in the 2nd and 3rd images of the series. (I read somewhere male robber fly terminalia are rotated, so might this be a female? Then again, maybe those are male "claspers".)
