Larinia? - Larinia borealis

Larinia? - Larinia borealis
Berrien Springs, Berrien County, Michigan, USA
June 6, 2006
In early morning, the webs dot a field. None of them have prey contained. By mid-day, not a web remains. I have not yet spent the morning observing how or why the webs disapear.

Nice
images, Steve.
One reason might be that orb weavers that hide in a retreat during the day often eat there webs, usually leaving a single silk 'backbone' or 'Y' for construction of the new web.
This helps avoid detection by natural enemies such as mud daubers and sometimes offers a meal, as small flying insects are not always detected, and may accumulate by the numbers.

Cool
Imaging that will be a challenge. :)
