Unknown ant -
Pogonomyrmex comanche
-
Midland, Midland County, Texas, USA
August 12, 2011
Size: 3/8"
After a VERY dry year, a brief shower brought out a nuptial flight of these ants. Some kind of harvester ant I assume.

Pogonomyrmex comanche
Slender build of workers; small, close-set propodeal spines; sandy habitat; and locality all point to this species, a new one for the guide. Thanks!
